Do you really give books away for free?
Yes we do! The "Books for Free" initiative rescues unwanted
books otherwise destined for landfill or pulping. Healthy Planet
redistributes these books - for free - throughout communities via
our Books for Free centres nationwide. By visiting the
centres and taking a book, you are reducing the amount of waste
that goes to landfill each year and helping to recycle valuable
resources. There is no catch and the only restriction is that a
maximum of 3 books are taken at any one time.
"Books for Free" has grown at a fantastic rate in just a
few years. We now have a network of Books for Free centres
throughout the UK, run by over 150 volunteers, which have so far
saved over 150 tonnes of books from landfill.
"What is nice about your centre is you are able to stock
many books which ordinary charity shops won't stock such as
children's paperbacks etc (because there is no profit in them -
apparently). My daughter hated reading at school, but since
visiting Books for Free only 3 weeks ago, she has already finished
reading her first proper children's novel which I caught her taking
to bed every night for 2 weeks. I am so proud! I haven't enjoyed
reading myself for so many years either! Well done on a brilliant
idea!"

If you are a Books For Free Lead Volunteer at one of our
centres and are in need of more books please click here to fill out the Book
Delivery Order Form.
If you are part of an organisation, independent to our
Books for Free initiative, but are interested in a donation of
books please click here to fill out an application. This could
include, but is not limited to schools, hostels, care homes, youth
groups, etc. If approved, we'll do our best to provide you
with a book donation, based on our stock. However, as we are
a charity, we would appreciate your help with the delivery
costs. In exchange for the book donation, all that we ask is
that you post our Healthy Planet promotional material provided with
the books.
