Raising Eco-Friendly Kids

It’s important to teach your kids how to benefit both the environment and their health. The obesity epidemic is growing, and teaching kids to make the right choices starts at home.
  • Take family walks or bike trips. You could even walk or bike to get to school as it eliminates fossil fuel emissions (and is great exercise).
  • Sitting down to family dinners is an excellent way to monitor what your child is eating. You can also have your child help pack his or her school lunch.
  • Go food shopping together so you can all learn how to make healthy choices. Only bring home foods that you would want your family to eat.
  • Eat at home instead of dining out-this could benefit your wallet and your health!
  • Practice moderation by allowing sweets in moderate amounts.
  • Encourage your child to drink more water. You could even buy them a reusable water bottle.
  • Encourage your child to exercise (play dates, family outings,   gardening, cutting the grass etc.)

Walk the walk! Your kids are excellent imitators of you and your actions.
