Does my park really get the money?
Yes. The money goes directly to conservation, community or
development organisations working inside or around the park.
The money is to support specific activities as defined in the
organisations proposal. As a guardian you can see the proposed
activities before deciding where to spend your money and you can
view reports from the organisation(s) that you have supported on
how the project went, what the concrete outcomes were, and what the
next steps are.
We are a different type of charity - we allow you to stay engaged
with your donation and manage the work that it does towards
safeguarding protected areas.
Who manages the money?
Healthy Planet Foundation manages the money and approves the
applications for projects made by the conservation-based
organisations. Once an application for a priority park passes
Healthy Planet's criteria, it can go live on the website and the
funds raised so far will be displayed next to each of the
activities. The funds for each park will be kept safe by Healthy
Planet. All projects funded are independently audited.
How can I stay involved?
From your armchair, you can be as active or as inactive as you
wish, and still help your park. The activity organisers will report
back to us on their activities and achievements in an official
annual report, which we will share with donors. You can also check
our news pages, Facebook and Twitter sites for any recent news and leave any
comments or questions you have for the organisations.
Otherwise of staying involved are:
- Help us to raise more money for the projects.
- Help us to choose how to spend your donation by prioritising
between the choice of projects.
- Look at satellite images of your park and help map and
monitor it to assist the conservation effort.
- Give Healthy Planet and our partners feedback.
When does the park get the money?
We will set a target for fundraising based on each application.
If significant donations are raised, we will pay the organisation
within six months of their page going live on our website. Funding
is long-term and renewable annually depending on the resources
available (i.e. the number of individuals who continue to support
the fund) and progress made in the project.
