Instituto Uiraçu is a Brazilian non-profit non-governmental organisation whose mission is to recuperate, protect and conserve ecosystems in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, centred around the Serra Bonita mountain range. This region contains some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world, but with over 93% of its original forest lost to the pressures of modern civilisation, they are also some of the most threatened.
Activities of the Instituto Uiraçu include expanding the
protected area, restoring degraded ecosystems, offering alternative
income generation activities to locals, scientific research, and
environmental education. By donating you will be fighting for the
protection of one of the world's most biologically important and
vulnerable places. This area is at a critical stage, and the
organisation is desperately in need of resources.
As the charity's president Fernando said 'I would like to thank
Healthy Planet for their efforts to help us. There are so many
things to do here and so few people willing to get involved'.
