Aaranyak's mission is to foster conservation of biodiversity in Northeast India through research, environmental education, capacity building and advocacy for legal and policy reform to usher a new era of ecological security.
Since it was formed in 1989, Aaranyak has slowly grown to become
one of the leading research-based conservation groups in North-East
India and the Eastern Himalayas. It has influenced policy
throughout Assam and is heavily involved in environmental education
in the area. Healthy Planet is supporting two of Aaranyak's
projects which are attempting to create sustainable conservation
initiatives through educating school children.
