Dear Trustees
As a teacher in charge of Learning Skills and Citizenship for 6th formers, I am always looking for fun, inspiring ways to deliver the curriculum that will give my students the best preparation & opportunities. As a charity focusing on health, the environment and their education through a culture of rewarding healthy choices, my students were interested in your work and how they could support it.
I immediately saw the potential in your Healthy Learning initiative as a "Social Business in a Box". With the students, we decided to make it the primary tool for the remainder of the academic year (1.5-2 terms) as it was adaptable for the time we could commit, it met my teaching requirements & benefits various other parts of the community including younger children, local businesses & the environment.
My students have started to run the business as a team. Also, as individuals, they have a chance to choose and work in an area of their choice within the business. For example, project management, communications, marketing, accounting/finance, HR/people management & even teaching younger children!
The opportunity to experiment & develop business & personal skills, in a safe environment supported by Healthy Planet, is a priceless opportunity for any teenager as they make important decisions about their life and career. I recommend this initiative to any teacher in charge of Learning Skills or Citizenship.
On behalf of our teaching staff, students and parents, thank you.
