Stephen Fry, TV's most intelligent man, is doing something really smart for Mother's Day – adopting land. Unlike four million people buying flowers, Stephen's gift is unique & will stay green for much longer.
'My mother will love the idea of a gift that supports a conservation project here in England,' said Stephen. 'It's a mother's natural instinct to think of their children's future, so it's nice to say thank you in this way. This is quick & easy to do & will be fun to give her. Don't tell her because it's a surprise! Become my neighbour & support conservation in the Great Fen Project by adopting a hectare there, or in any of Healthy Planet's 77,000 protected parks around the world.'
Stephen added 'Healthy Planet has sent me a personalised Land Guardian Certificate to give to my mother, & she can look at her adopted land on the Healthy Planet website - when she clicks on it, she'll see a photo of the two of us and a plaque dedicated to her.'

Convenient: Adoption only takes a couple of minutes. Print your personalised certificate to give, or e-mail it to Mum immediately.
How it works
By adopting land in a protected park, you become a Guardian for that plot of land. You won't own it, and you can't buy it, sell it or rent it. You're simply adopting it. This enables you to help look after your selected plot, by making a valuable contribution to the conservation of the whole park.
More benefits of becoming a Land Guardian:
Dedicated to your mother: Add or amend your own image, name & message anytime, to appear on your certificate & plaque in Google Earth/Maps, at your plot for all to see.
90%+ for your park: Thanks to web technology; unpaid trustees & supporters like Google, we are very lean. So more of your money reaches where you really want it to go.
An instant gift: An instant gift: 2-3 mins to adopt. Instant delivery of:
- Plaque at your plot on Google Maps/Earth
- your official Land Guardian certificate (colour pdf).
Fits all budgets: £45pa (£4.75pm) for 1 sq km plots (140 soccer pitches; up to 58,000 trees). Smaller (hectare) plots start at £10pa. Adopt more plots &/or for longer (5yrs or forever) to suit your budget.

Stephen Fry and the Great Fen Project
Stephen Fry has been the President of the Great Fen Project since May 2006. It was a natural choice for him to adopt land there.
The project is creating a 3,700 hectare wetland between Huntingdon and Peterborough. It is one of the most exciting habitat restoration projects ever undertaken in Britain.
Great Fen shelters wildlife including migratory birds, and some 450 species of fungi that support thousands of insects. Very rare plants such as Fen Violet and Fen Woodrush will also benefit from new habitats created by the Great Fen Project.
