Socially Responsible Corporate Christmas Gifts
November 2008

Christmas cards, corporate events and entertainment, although traditional, can be a huge expense to businesses. With the current business climate, why not celebrate Christmas with a company gift that will truly make a difference? With Healthy Planet, you can sponsor conservation land, create a plaque and certificate and dedicate it to your business or personalise it for your customers, staff, suppliers and partners. You can even mark it with your logo, website, dedication and slogan through Google Earth - the perfect way to show Christmas spirit and ensure fulfillment of your Corporate Social Responsibility commitment.

Healthy Planet’s environmental initiative allows you to select any plot of land from within 77,000+ conservation parks; “adopt” it to ensure it remains fully protected during your sponsorship period; and design your own plaque on Google Earth.  You can also create a certificate in your company name, and better still, all of this can be done from the convenience of your desk.

Once you have adopted a piece of a park, “Land Guardians” or sponsors can be entered into an online forum with others contributing to that specific protected area.  You could adopt a tropical rainforest, a mountain peak or the national nature reserve down the road.  Land Guardians are kept informed of how their funds are put to work by the authorities and conservation organisations  working to protect the  park and are given opportunities to vote for certain projects to be prioritised, as well as receive annual reports and state of the art satellite-based monitoring of their park.  Akin to a “Facebook” group, these online communities are able to liaise with other Land Guardians within the Park, as well as receive updates from those working on the ground, giving your Xmas gift life well beyond the seasonal fortnight of goodwill.

Adopting 1 sq km or 247 acres of a protected area – roughly the size of 140 football pitches – starts at £180 annually.  In lowland tropical forest, this 1 sq km would contain an average of 58,000 trees.

Triumphant Events & Voice Communications have already adopted land through Healthy Planet.

Daniel Priestley, UK CEO of Triumphant Events comments on why he has signed up to Healthy Planet: “Healthy Planet is a wonderful way for us to show that we care deeply about the environment. We use Healthy Planet to give gifts as well as to contribute as a small business. It is good fun and certainly gets people talking."

There are also longer-term sponsorship options benefiting both the park and you.  For example, to sponsor a plot of land forever, the cost would be £4,450.
